BAI 301 - Basics of Business Analytics

Prerequisites: CAIS 101  CAIS 191  CAIS 201  - Must be completed prior to taking this course.
This course explores the foundational analytics tools and techniques to analyze data with confidence, as well as how to integrate data insights, models, and algorithms with business outcomes. Students will learn to translate business questions into rigorous analysis plans and devise strategies to validate their analyses, even when doing so seems impossible. Through exploratory data analysis, students will use SAS to produce histograms, frequency distributions, crosstabulations, and descriptive statistics to understand their data. Advanced data comparisons, including moving averages and indices, are also applied to put current business performance in context and identify opportunities and risks for future performance. Students will learn to jettison the jargon and transform their analyses into compelling data stories that convince their audience to take positive action to propel the business forward.
