CAIS 201 - Intro Bus Intelligence and Analytics

Prerequisites: CAIS 191  Must be completed prior to taking this course.
This course explores how data is transformed into a valuable business asset which, coupled with Analytics, drives data driven business decision making. The types of data generated by business operations are examined and as well as the concept of the modern data factory where raw data is turned into actionable information that propels the business forward. The key concept of data governance is covered as well as how to ensure data privacy. The course introduces students to the myriad of jobs in data and analytics including the pivotal role of the business analyst to bridge knowledge gaps between business and technical teams. It also explains how a business measures success, discusses the foundational analytical insights every business person must know to become confident in making effective data driven decisions, and describes how to leverage data analysis to craft presentations that tell compelling data stories.
