CAIS 191 - Computer Concepts

This course introduces students to business information systems. In addition to covering computer hardware, software, productivity tools and the internet, it provides an overview of software applications i with an introduction to Microsoft Windows, Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The course , also contains an in-depth exploration of Microsoft Excel including how to create worksheets and ·extended functionality. It also introduces students to databases and database management systems.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Define business information systems, hardware and software.

• Explain the purpose of various software productivity tools.

• Demonstrate how to develop Excel formulas, generate charts and use pivot tables.

• Relate the concepts of databases and database management systems. Offered: Spring/Fall Only
