CHEM 114 - Introduction to Biochemistry

Prerequisites: CHEM 113 and CHEM 113L or CHEM 123 and CHEM 123L with minimum grade C
Corequisite: CHEM 114L unless passed in a previous semester.
After a brief review of general chemistry and an introduction to organic chemistry, the biochemistry of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, nucleic acids, vitamins, enzymes, and hormones are studied. These studies are applied to understand diseases caused by metabolic disturbances and in-born errors of metabolism.
