ITKM 505 - Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence

The days of “gut feel” decision making are over. Information has been unleashed with boundless benefits for business. Confidence working with data and analysis tools and techniques and understanding the information technology (IT) function is a requirement for business success. This course focuses on business problem solving using data via Microsoft Excel and leverages those topics to explain the IT function. Students will also learn to apply quantitative analysis using statistics and SAS to solve business problems.

Course Objectives:  Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Interpret data inputs and outputs.

• Discern appropriate action to solve business problems.

• Recognize and apply relevant quantitative approaches to analyze data in varied contexts.

• Understand the information technology (IT) function and contrast it with other business functions.
