Music, B.M. - Music Business Concentration

An audition is not required for this major.
The Music Business concentration within the Bachelor of Music degree is a combination of professional music study and courses tailored by advisement to the student’s strengths, interests, and career plans. Due to the great diversity found within the music industry, exact coursework will differ. Some coursework may be taken in UB’s Ernest C. Trefz School of Business or School of Engineering, as well as in Mass Communications. This concentration is designed to help musicians become entrepreneurial.
Students will complete 15 credits in Music Business, drawn by advisement, as outlined in the concentration below:

Curriculum requirements - 120 credits
General education requirements - 43 credits
Music core courses - 62 credits
Music theory - 16 credits
Music history - 12 credits
Applied music lessons (primary instrument) - 8 credits
Ensembles - 8 credits
Students must be enrolled in at least one ensemble each semester. Professional - 16 credits
Other requirements - 0 credits
Note:
1 This course should be taken more than once for a total of 8 credits 2 You must take MUSC 103 twice, plus 6 credits of other ensembles 3 Weekly seminar participation for 6 semesters Music Business concentration - 15 credits
