The Master’s Program in Technology Management (TM) is designed to prepare you for the fast-moving global economy where the ability to manage advances in management, engineering, science and technology is critical to innovation, competition and success. We develop leaders adept at managing technology-dependent organizations, emerging technology-based entrepreneurial businesses, technology change and innovation, and skills in establishing and maintaining superior competitive advantages for their organizations.
The Master’s program is an innovation interdisciplinary graduate program that enables you to seamlessly and easily integrate courses and concentrations offered by various departments and schools at UB. Our graduates have obtained positions in engineering, technology, management and other professional careers in a wide spectrum of industries and organizations. As an integral part of the M.S. in TM, we give you the opportunity to specialize in a number of exciting concentrations after you complete specific core courses. Thus preparing you for select highly sought after industry certifications.
The MS in Technology Management program is accredited by the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT).
Our school has a strong internship program which allows students to work for outside companies while completing their degree. We also have on-campus jobs both within and outside the TM department.
The UB Technology Management Program is specifically designed to develop skills and competencies such as:
- Identifying and evaluating the impact of relevant changing technology and managing those changes.
- Designing programs to identify, develop and implement innovative technological based solutions.
- Managing the effective planning and execution of those technology based initiatives and the integration of their results into the mainstream of an enterprises’ strategy, processes and operations.

Learning Outcomes
Master of Science in Technology Management
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
1. demonstrate:
A) effective leadership and management skills in technology driven environments,
B) expertise to integrate technological solutions into business processes to enhance effectiveness and efficiency by assessing emerging technologies to gain a competitive advantage,
C) the ability to foster a culture of innovation within an organization, recognizing the technological, political, and cultural forces that enable and inhibit change, and
D) the capability to apply a broad understanding of risk to enable project/program/change success.
2. communicate ideas clearly and persuasively in oral and written structures in both formal and informal settings.
3. contribute within diverse sets of teams and build internal and external relationships that facilitate success in contemporary organizations via interpersonal and professional skills.
4. apply information literacy, proficiency with technology, and analytical techniques for ethical/effective/efficient decision-making.

Learning Outcomes will be assessed using the following measures:
1. participating in class discussions to assess real-world policies and decisions,
2. completing in-class quizzes, tests, and exams with multiple-choice and open-ended questions that require students to identify, compare, and summarize key topics,
3. completing third-party formative and summative surveys, certificates, and tests that require students to calculate, classify, and answer technical questions based on case studies,
4. completing papers that require students to categorize and summarize key concepts,
5. utilizing labs to perform hands-on queries, projects, etc.,
6. participating in team projects that address learning outcomes, and which require students to evaluate classmates on team performance,
7. informally and formally presenting material related to course concepts, proposals, etc.,
8. performing research on course topics, such as industry analysis,
9. populating journals that serve as refence material for reflection papers,
10. completing a thesis or internship that demonstrates the ability to perform scholarship/knowledge-work in real-word settings, and
11. building business plans.
