BIOL 410 - Advanced Comparative Anatomy

3 Credit(s)

Biol 410 Advanced Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy is an integrated study of vertebrate structure from a phylogenetic approach. We will examine the evolutionary history and diversity of body systems in vertebrates with a primary focus on form-function relationships. Lectures will use a systems-based approach to assess the significance of convergent (similar) and divergent (different) adaptations to dynamic environments. Lecture exercises will provide an opportunity to explore in detail the major organ systems of representative vertebrates through use of individual assignments, group activities, and class dissections.
