This course examines religions and politics in the Middle East. Histories of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, their shared and opposing religious and social ideas, are studied. Particular attention is paid to the state of Israel and the question of a Palestinian state. Topics also included the Six Day War, issues of sovereignty and land, terrorism, and geopolitics. Instructor’s permission may be required for this course.
