CPEG 591X - Reinforcement Learning

Reinforcement learning is an important field of Artificial Intelligence where the system learns to maximize its rewards while interacting with a complex and uncertain environment. It has applications in many fields such as self driving cars and autonomous vehicles, learning-based robots, trading and finance decision making, enhancing the quality of natural language generation in large language models such as Chat GPT, Bard and Llama, among others. The course presents the theoretical foundations of reinforcement learning, along with deep learning based implementations of modern approaches to reinforcement learning. Recent research work and possible future directions in the RL field will also be presented.
