MB 521 - Clinical Microbiology Introduction Infectious Diseases 2 Credit(s)
Prerequisites: BC 511 , AN 511 This course introduces the student to the basic concepts of microbiology with emphasis on the structure, growth, metabolism and genetics of bacteria. Host-parasite relationships of representative bacterial, fungal, viral, and protozoan pathogens are examined. A survey of microbial diseases includes modes of transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, physical and chemical methods of disinfection, sterilization and treatment. Presentations include lecture, laboratory and case studies.
