CJHS 599 - Thesis or Project Demonstrating Competence 3 Credit(s)
The thesis/project represents the culmination of the MA in Criminal Justice and Human Security and demonstrates competency in the major as well as the track in which the student has chosen to specialize. The Thesis/Project requires identifying a theme or topic selected by the student in consultation with the Professor and this is followed by detailed research literature review and synthesis of the topic and the analysis of findings in the form of substantial written work. This is normally completed in the student’s final year of study in the program.
Course Objectives:
- A written project of empirical or philosophical value pertaining to some facet in the field of study of Criminal Justice and Human Security and in the student’s area of specialization and or interest.
- The finished thesis will contribute to the scholarship and literature in the field by furthering the understanding of a phenomenon or problem or through its enquiry into an area of Criminal Justice and Human security.
- The thesis/research project should utilize empirical peer reviewed research as the foundation for the review of the literature, with proposed application and summation of findings. At minimum, 25 citations should be included.
