ENGL 100 - Introduction to College Writing

English 100 is a foundational course that improves students’ ability to write effectively for a college audience and prepares students for English 101. The class stresses the development of critical thinking skills as a means to advance writing aptitude. Through reading, discussion, and
practice, students learn the fundamentals of writing, beginning with the sentence and paragraph and moving to the full essay. This course emphasizes the writing process. A selection of writing assignments will be drafted multiple times and revised. The study of grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and usage review is also a vital component of this course.
